Terry was my first boss at Plant Bath when I was starting out as a lifeguard in 1974. He was a great mentor and a kind, generous person. I followed him to Pinecrest Pool from 1977 to 1981 and have fond memories of our scuba dives together with Terry, my younger brother Denis, and Steve Dean, and our waterpolo games ( hello Peter and Angelo from Plant Bath and Chuck Saxe at Pinecrest) against other lifeguard teams especially our games at Petawawa Garrison against a tough all-military team, and the RMC team in Kingston. He was the life of all the parties he attended ( we called him “T W Groovey” due to his contagious energy). He always had our backs at work. It was an honour to know him.
My deepest condolences to his family.

Ah, Terry.... my best friend for so many years. We shared the late 60's and early 70's as brothers. I cannot recall the number of times when you were finishing work at Pinecrest and I at Brewer and we took a run to Hull for a nightcap. The many many weekends at your cottage were filled with laughter and good times. In truth, you were my mentor in my formative years at the many pools in Ottawa. Our hours of chess at your home and at your work were a joy to me and it was always exciting to win a game or two.
I am sorry to see you leave so early ... you had much to give to many.

Terry was an amazing boss, mentor and friend. Dave Jones captured the sentiment perfectly. Terry inspired and supported his staff and was a consummate professional. He knew how to motivate people and had a tremendous sense of humour which made working and socializing with him a true pleasure. It was a privilege to have worked with him and to call him a friend. He will be missed.

I worked for Terry at Pinecrest Pool. I have such fond memories of my time working for him. He was the kind of boss who inspired you to work hard and have fun. He trusted us to do our job well and was always there to support you and believe in you. He could always make you laugh, and was so competent at his job. He is a legend in the Aquatics Department of the City of Ottawa. I counted him as a friend and mentor and am lucky to have worked for him all those years ago.

I have so many great memories of Terry and his teenage years at Christie Lake. He taught me to jive and we got to have a dance a few years ago at our reunion....we were just as good as when we were 16! My condolences to Terry's loved ones - he was a lovely guy.
