Obituary of Vaggelis (Angelo) Deskes
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Vaggelis (Angelo) Deskes on Sunday, December 31st after a brief illness, which he endured bravely. He leaves his beloved spouse of 32 years, Rodica, who nursed him with tender love and care.
Vaggelis is predeceased by his parents, George and Garifalia Deskes.
Vaggelis will be dearly missed by his sisters, Hariklia (late Damianos) Papadakis and Marianthi (late Vassilis) Parianos of Ottawa, as well as his brother-in-law, Virgil (Elizabeta) of Romania. He is predeceased by his brothers, Stavros (late Dimitra) and John (late Evangelia).
His many nieces and nephews will remember “Theo Vaggeli” as a supportive and caring Uncle. They include from Ottawa, Bessie (Sotiris), Lisa (Costa T), Peter (Maggie), Lisa (Dean), Angela (Tony), Lisa (Costa A) and the late George (Helene), and from Hamilton, Lisa (Scott) and Georges (Tusia), as well as Luca of Romania and all their families.
Vaggelis was born on the island of Samos, Greece and then moved to Athens, Greece until he migrated to Ottawa, Canada with his parents. Vaggelis was a hard-working man in the restaurant business and with the family cleaning business, then eventually established his own company, A.D. Building Services, which he was a proud owner of, until his passing. His pastimes included fishing, a friendly game of cards, spending time with family and friends in the Greek community, and especially volunteering at GreekFest.
Family and friends may pay respects on Monday, January 8th at 11:00 am at the Dormition of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church at 1315 Prince of Wales Drive with the Funeral to follow at 12:00 pm. Immediately following the Funeral, Interment will take place at Pinecrest Cemetery, 2500 Baseline Road.
