Obituary of Daniel Trudeau
It is with great sadness and much love that we mourn the peaceful passing of Daniel George Trudeau of Gatineau Québec on Saturday, February 17th, 2024 at the age of 76 years young. He was surrounded by immediate family in his final days.
Dan, Dad, Pop-pop was a kind gentle spirit who loved being in the presence of his family and friends. He enjoyed traveling and adventuring locally and abroad most often with his wife Velma, however when he got a chance to travel with his kids and grandkids, it brought him great joy. He had a listening ear to whomever needed to chat and he wasn't short of stories to tell. In his early years, he spent many summers in Maryland, QC at the Chabot farm. In his mid years, he spent time supporting young race car drivers, and in his retirement years he enjoyed spending time caring for his flower garden.
Dan dedicated his life learning and advancing his education as a Power Engineer, working as a mechanical and stationary engineer for the Ottawa hospitals for 30 years. He was also a lifetime member of the Institute of Power Engineers and a long-time Amsoil Dealer.
He was predeceased by Eugene Daniel Trudeau (son), brothers Ronald and Steven Trudeau and his parents Ambrose Trudeau (father) and Jeanne (Dinel) Trudeau (mother).
Dan is survived by his wife Velma (LeBlanc) Trudeau, his eldest daughter Shannon (Trudeau) Haugen - children Caleb, Anna and Sarah Haugen; his son Cory Trudeau (Natalie Champagne); and his daughter Kristen Trudeau (Stéphane Mayer) - children Mikka, Nikola and Sasha Bélanger and Léa-Rose, Christopher, Bianca, Alexandre, and Angélie Mayer. Dan is also survived by his sister Debbie (Trudeau) (late Peter) Godsall and many brother/sisters-in-laws as well as great /great-great nieces and nephews.
His Celebration of Life will be held by Cole Funeral Home at Pinecrest Cemetery, 2500 Baseline Rd, Ottawa, Ontario, Saturday, February 24th, 2024 at 1:00pm. Condolence messages may be left on the Pinecrest Cemetery site, see link below.
