Obituary of Kenneth Edward Hacker
It is with great sadness to announce the passing of (Ken)neth Edward Hacker who succumbed to a stroke on February 25, 2024. He leaves behind his wife of 67 years, Ann Hayward, and their three children, Allen (Lee Ann) Lynn (Douglas May) and Edward. He is survived by his brother, Donald, and nephews Phil (Ada) and Stephen (Donna) and their three boys. He also leaves behind 5 grandchildren, Tyler Hein (Anny), Sonia Ann May, Jacqui (Mark), Cora (Mike) and Bonnie as well as 10 great grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren .
Ken was born in Milltown, NB, and graduated from the University of New Brunswick in 1956. He moved to Ottawa, ON in 1957 after marrying Ann where they raised their three children. He worked at Sears until starting his career in the Government of Canada for 32 years, retiring in 1991. He and Ann then purchased and managed the Pinegrove Cottages in Otter Lake, QC for 25 years. He is a lifetime member of both the Ottawa Kinsmen Club and the Ottawa Good Companions.
Visitation will be held from 12:00-2:00 pm at the Cole Funeral Home (Pinecrest Cemetery), 2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa, ON. on February 29, 2024 with service to follow at 2:00 pm. A reception will be held following interment.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
