Obituary of Robert E. Cole
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Earl Cole. (Bob) He passed away peacefully with family at his side on Tuesday, February 20,2024 at the Ottawa Civic Hospital.
He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley (nee Armstrong), of 68 years. Predeceased by his parents Norman H. Cole and Bona Cole (nee Carter). Cherished brother of the late Norman A. Cole (Doris) and sister Sylvia June Pierce (nee Cole).
He will be fondly remembered by his nieces, Diana Payne, (nee Cole) Joan McNeill, (nee Cole), Jane Hickman, Janet Szula, and nephews, Scott Niblock, Paul Armstrong, Peter Armstrong, John Armstrong, extended family, and many friends.
Bob grew up in Westboro, and attended Nepean High School. Bob founded & operated Ottawa Awning and Canvas, and was a well-respected member of the Ottawa Executives Association.
An active curler and golfer at the Ottawa Hunt Club, Bob spent many years at his farm property in South March and summer home on the St Lawrence River. Known by all for his generosity and philanthropy. Bob was very amiable, good natured, and a realist.
A heart-felt thank you goes out to the Emergency and the staff on the 5th floor at the Ottawa Civic Hospital.
A celebration of life will be held at the Pinecrest Remembrance Chapel, 2500 Baseline Road on Tuesday, March 5th, 2024 at 2:00pm.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
