Obituary of Manuel DeBarros

It is with heavy hearts and sadness that we announce the passing of Manuel De Barros.  He passed away peacefully on April 7, 2024 at the age of 62, after a long battle with cancer, surrounded by his loved ones. 

Beloved husband to Sophia De Barros (nee Mortakis) and loving father to Emilia De Barros. Father to Cesar De Barros (Shannon Fiander), Nancy De Barros (Christopher Welbanks), Grandfather of Tiago, Aria and Jaiden. 

Brother of Anibal De Barros, uncle of Rosemary, Robert and Jordan. 

Manuel’s life was a testament of his faith, and no matter the storm, he faced anything with great courage, strength, determination, a strong will, and a positive attitude and never gave up hope right to the very end.  Virtues that many of us should acquire.  Without a doubt a compelling and admirable man, who faced whatever battle courageously for the love for his family.  A true warrior through and through. 

His legacy will continue to inspire his precious children and grandchildren and all who knew and worked with him to pursue their life with the same values and motivation but above all, with God’s love. 

Visitation will be held at the Dormition of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, 1315 Prince of Wales Drive, on Thursday, April 18th at 10:00 AM until time of the funeral service at 11:00AM.  Interment at Capital Memorial Gardens.  

In memory of Manuel, donations can be made to the Dormition of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church or the Canadian Cancer Society.
