Obituary of Rudolph Duschner
Rudolph (89) passed peacefully on 11 May 2024. He is survived by his wife Ilse, his daughters Petra (Jonathan) and Gabrielle and his grandchildren Rebecca and Jeffrey.
Born in Germany, Rudolph came to Canada and opened his tailor shop in old Ottawa South in 1960. His shop soon became a place where customers became friends, dropping by with coffee to discuss politics. After thirty seven years of tailoring, which he loved, Rudolph retired to travel with Ilse and spend more time at their cottage on the Big Rideau Lake, that special place where he would enjoy swimming, boating, working around the cottage, and meeting up with friends. Rudolph loved the outdoors, and was an avid downhill skier, table tennis player and swimmer. He ensured all members of his family learned how to ski, and was always ready to play ping pong. He swam daily at the local pool, and met up with "the boys" over coffee.
His daughters were his pride and joy. He was always there, supportive and ready to help. He loved his grandchildren and was so proud of them and their accomplishments. He and Ilse forged a beautiful, happy and successful life in Ottawa, while still remaining close to his family in Germany.
Rudolph will be deeply missed, yet his love will always be felt as his legacy and spirit remain within us.
