Obituary of Dennis Lyle Seveny
With sorrow in our hearts, the Seveny family announces the passing of Dennis Lyle Seveny after a short but painful battle with cancer. Dennis had a will to live and determination to spend as many days of his remaining times with family and friends while recalling cherished memories.
Dennis leaves behind his love, Susan Boutilier, his partner of 23 years, his children Jonathan Seveny (Adriana), Natasha Seveny and his step-son, Matthew Henderson (Elizabeth). He was a fond Grandpa to Alyssa, Riley, Harlow, Emma, and Andreas and Grampy to Holly, Benjamin, Hanna, Abigail, and Cameron.
He will be deeply missed by his siblings and spouses, Gary Seveny (Louise), Kim Seveny (Denise), Tammy Simpson (Frank) and his many nieces and nephews, and stepmother Edith Evans Seveny.
Dennis was pre-deceased by his father, Lionel Seveny and his mother, Edith Seveny and also Cecile Lalonde-Allard (the mother of his children).
Born in Galt, Ontario he lived there until the family moved to Bells Corners in his teen years but Dennis has always felt a close connection to Southern Ontario. Dennis had a long and varied career including working for H. Fine & Company, first in delivery then in sales and marketing. Dennis was an entrepreneur, owner of one of the Slippy’s store, and later on from June 1999 to June 30, 2023 owner of DKS Satellite where he was very well liked by his clients.
Dennis had a zest for life, especially speed, whether it was on his motorcycle or in his Corvette.
He had a deep love for family and delighted in hosting family celebrations.
Susan is thankful to her sister-in-law, Sharon Boutilier, not only for her love and support but also assisting Susan with Dennis’s care and needs day and night. St. Elizabeth’s doctors, nurses and personal care workers were essential and became friends with Dennis especially Johnson, who helped us every step of the way. His final few days at the May Court Hospice provided him comfort without pain with Susan by his side and family having quiet moments to say goodbye.
Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of this wonderful man’s life at St. Thomas Anglican Church, 1619 Stittsville Main Street on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at 1:00 pm. A reception will follow in the church hall.
Donations in honour of Dennis can be made to Salvation Army or St. Thomas Anglican Church or any other charity of your choice.
