Myra Lisa Wurtele (née McAllister)

1959-2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Myra Wurtele, who left us on August 5, 2024, at the age of 65.

Myra was a beloved mother, stepmother, nana, sister, aunt and friend to many. Myra is survived by her children Matthew and Sara (Ryan), her stepson Dan (Deborah), her grandchildren Steven and Tristan, her furbaby Khali, as well as her siblings Lydia, George, Robert and Donna.

A fiercely proud and dedicated public servant for over 20 years, she leaves behind many heavy hearts at Statistics Canada.

Myra will forever be remembered for her sass, selflessness, forwardness, unwavering devotion to her family, and her love of animals, reading, puzzles and Star Trek.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at Pinecrest Remembrance Chapel, 2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Ottawa Humane Society in honour of Myra's love of animals.
