Obituary of Kenneth Richard Douglas
Born and raised in Dorval, QC. Ken attended Acadia University and obtained a Bachelor of Science, Honors in Mathematics, which he followed up with a MBA, CMA, CPA and FRM.
He followed his parents to Ottawa and spent the next 40 years there working first at Canada Post then at Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, retiring as Director of Operations Support for Risk Management in 2019
He was an avid chess player since the age of 5, eventually earning a grandmaster ranking. He enjoyed playing golf with his friends.
He passed away following a short illness. Predeceased by his parents Charles and Barbara, his sister and brother in law Marie and Luc Gauthier, his son Scott.
Lovingly remembered by his sister and brother in law Cindy and David Desson, his 8 nieces and nephews, Nathalie (Andrew Mitchell) and Caroline Gauthier, Cheryl (Jason Messier), Nicholas, Jennifer (Brian Racey), Caitlin (Seb Rodiquez), Stephanie (Matt Prowse) and Jeffrey Desson, and 8 great nieces and nephews as well as his uncle Patrick Pardoe (Kate Balsara) and aunt Marion (late Steve Douglas).
Fondly remembered by his elementary school chums Bob Branigan, Brian White, Wayne Huchuk and Ralph Bard.
Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, September 14, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Pinecrest Reception Centre, 25 Baseline Road. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to the Ottawa Food bank would be appreciated. Special thanks to the ICU staff at The Ottawa Hospital, General Campus.
