Obituary of Shirley Anne Green
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Shirley Anne Green. Shirley was the cherished mother of Judy, Sandra (Duncan) Anderson, Marjorie (Darin) McCorriston and Diana (Gary) Cashman and daughter-in-law, Ann Green. She was predeceased by her parents, Borden and Esther Hobbs, her brother Bordie Hobbs, and her son, Tom Green. A proud Nana, she leaves behind Matthew (Sam), Jenna (Josh), Jayme, Jessie (Jesse), Clinton (Nicole), Rebecca, and Abby and great grandson, West.
Shirley had a fulfilling career as a registered nurse. After raising her 5 children, she returned to nursing at the Queensway Carleton Hospital, followed by numerous other positions as a nurse specialist and ultimately concluding her wonderful career at the Worker’s Compensation Board.
In retirement, Shirley found joy at her favorite place, Norway Bay, where she was an active member of the Historical Society, the Church Community and was one of the founding members of the palliative care unit and the volunteer program at the Shawville Hospital. Shirley loved to entertain, enjoyed her bridge club, and cherished her time with family.
Her empathy and compassion for others were just some of the many reasons she was deeply loved by all whose lives she touched. Shirley's strength provided comfort and a nurturing environment for those around her. She will be profoundly missed by her family and friends.
Family and friends are invited to visit Cole Funeral Services & Highland Park Cemetery, 2037 McGee Side Rd, Carp on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. -11:00 a.m. A Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. A time of fellowship and refreshments will follow.
We would like to thank the staff at Granite Ridge Retirement Home for their loving care of our mom and all the compassion they showed to her as well as her family
In memory of Shirley please consider donations to the Salvation Army and The Ottawa Humane Society.
We love you Mom/Nana. Rest In Peace.
