Rosemary was a woman of strong faith. She was a devoted Catholic, and was a committed parishioner at St Basil's and, later in life, Queen of the Holy Rosary Churches, where she had many friends. Her dealings with other people were always filled with warmth and kindness. After raising three children, she re-joined the work force as a secretary and rose quickly through the civil service to become Personal Assistant to five Ministers of Defence. In her 30s, she took to oil painting as a hobby, and in her 50s, became an enthusiastic golfer. After early retirement, she volunteered in the annual Carleton Tavern seasonal program of providing Christmas meals in the community and spent time helping nursing home residents. Rosemary was also a strong supporter of Canadian Red Cross, SOS Children’s Village, Humane Society, Doctors without Borders, Ottawa Food Bank, The Snowsuit Fund and Queen of the Most Holy Parish.
