Dad
John Henderson Scott
May 14,1936- Oct 24,2024
Dad was a career flight instructor.
Dads early days of flying from 1956-1958 included the “DEW Line” (Defense Early Warning) up in the high arctic on a variety of aircraft. His flying soon after focused on becoming a Chief Flight Instructor (CFI) at Bradley air services at the Carp Flying Club during the years 1958-1969. Dads adventures changed once again when he began working with Transport Canada where he worked until he retired in 1997 as Director, of General Aviation. Dad flew the Beechcraft Queen Air, DC-3, Twin Otter and C182 aircraft. He also was an accomplished aerobatic instructor flying the wonderful Dehaviland Chipmunk aircraft. During his years at Transport Canada, Dad also obtained his helicopter certification.
For many years, dad was a deciding judge for the Webster Memorial Trophy Competition, recognizing Canada’s annual top amateur pilot. There are literally hundreds and hundreds of pilots in the aviation industry who have received their pilots licences from him.
Mom
Geraldine Anne Scott(DesRosiers)
Oct 14,1936- July 29,2015
Mom was a flight attendant for Trans Canada Airlines (TCA) flying on the DC3 and Viscount aircraft when they met and were married in 1959. Mom made a selfless decision to abandon her wings to focus on raising a large family and all that came with it.
Mom and dad moved their family with Transport Canada from Ottawa to Toronto to New Brunswick and finally settled back in Ottawa in 1975.
Mom enjoyed working temporary employment throughout her years , with various personnel agencies while also enjoying coaching swim teams both competitive and Masters in both New Brunswick and Ottawa.
Together mom and dad raised five children Sharon (Jean Marc) John(Julie ), Jill ,Shelly,Douglas( Patty)
They were also so very proud of their 13 grandchildren
Jessica , Lindsay , Karrie, Christopher , Matthew, Michael, Cassandra, Riley, Emily, Liah, Alex, Katelan, Stefano.
They continued to be blessed with 7 great grandchildren Luke , Jake , Evan, Jameson , Kendal, Charlotte , Scott, (and three more on the way )
During Mom & Dads early years with their family, they enjoyed camping throughout Canada and the USA with their favourite place being Ogdensburg KOA for many years. In later years they found their joy on many cruise ships in the Caribbean and Europe with family and friends. They both were very involved in the Canadian Kennel Club and together they bred and raised purebred collies showing their dogs in competition for many years. Mom always enjoyed writing articles for the Canadian Kennel Club in her spare time for the association newsletters.
Dad was involved in team efforts to transport rescued dogs to their foster families.
While raising 5 children was never an easy task, our parents were always there for us and provided much love, encouragement, and support. They loved nothing more than showering their sizeable grandchildren and great grandchildren network with love.
They say our lives pass in a blink of an eye! We dare say this is very true even if they left us with a teary eye.
Gone but never forgotten❤️
May you now rest in peace together.
