I extend my heartfelt condolences to the Fryer family and to the many friends grieving the loss of Karl and his magnetic bright light.
Karl and I were close friends in high school as he lived next door to, and was best friends with my boyfriend at the time - so we were inseparable during those years.
Innumerable are my memories with Karl. We always had a blast together. Eventually, we all went our separate ways but we managed to keep in touch in the beginning.
I cherish the letters we exchanged during his time at Wadhams where he shared what was expanding and impacting his mind, heart, and beliefs.
I took them out of my box of treasures and read them after I received the shocking news of his passing.
In them I could feel how much he cared about the goodness in me and in others and how it was important to him that I knew that. I feel grateful to be able to experience his friendship again just by reading them. He was a true friend.
Karl’s natural ease with people was disarming and enchanting. He was kind, caring, present, super fun, always very comfortable in his own skin, and true to his beliefs - one of which I wholeheartedly share - that no band was, or ever will be greater than Led Zeppelin. Even today, when I get the Led out, Karl is right there drumming or playing the guitar solo with me with a huge curled, slightly parted, one-sided grin on his face.
Ramble On dear Karl,
The autumn moon lights your way.
With love,
Your old friend Karen Mizuik

I am so sorry to learn about the passing of a great soul and person. Carl, myself and group of guys from Wadhams played many games of hockey together, and we celebrated a lot also. Carl will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Rest in Peace my Brother!

I recently found out that a good friend of mine passed away while I was in France. Carl Freyer was truly one of a kind and the local character adding color into our grey community. Friend or stranger could always expect a greeting when passing by his home as he was frequently arranging the items in his garage while having a smoke, playing with his two sons or strumming a guitar. An avid LED Zeppelin fan, I will certainly miss hearing him drive by my home with Zeppelin blasting out his car window for all the world to hear. God rest you Carl.

I’m so, so sorry to hear this. We went to Wadhams Hall together. We played so much floor hockey it was unreal. I do wish I could tell you all about the wonderful times we had. Everyone love him. Carl was Carl. Even the most devout and conservative priest loved him. Carl treated everyone the same no matter who you were. I will pray for him everyday. I’m so shocked and saddened by the news. May God grand him eternal rest and may perpetual light shine upon him. Love and prayers John Wenzell Thunder Bay.
