Obituary of Carl Freyer
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Carl Freyer at his home in Stittsville on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at the age of 58. Carl was born in Toronto on May 8th, 1966, the youngest child of Paul and Jean Freyer.
Carl had a very happy childhood, it was during this time that he developed a deep love for hockey, which he played extensively throughout his youth. He graduated from Wadhams Hall Seminary, carrying with him a strong sense of purpose and dedication.
Carl will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of 23 years, Jangyoung Yoo, and their two children, Izaia and Edison. He is also survived by his mother, Jean Freyer; his brothers, Paul and David Freyer; and his sisters, Dierdre and Karen Freyer. Carl will be fondly remembered by his extended family, including many nieces, nephews, cherished friends, and his Badger Daylighting’s co-workers.
A man of kindness and gentleness, Carl's passions were rooted in philosophy, reading, music, hockey, and nature. He loved Led Zeppelin, and Bob Dylan’s Forever Young held a special place in his heart. Carl enjoyed watching football, playing board games, and spending endless hours with his sons.
Carl's presence in his neighborhood, particularly on Smoketree, was unforgettable. He was affectionately known for greeting everyone who passed his driveway. His garage became a gathering spot where friends shared good times and laughter. His closest friends, Darin, Todd Chayka, and Peter Seguin were lifelong companions who shared countless memories.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to their neighbor Michael Bew and Martin Howard for their incredible support during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Carl’s honor to the GoFundMe that will be established in his name. Details to follow.
